Chelsea have made a fantastic start to their new Premier League campaign under new manager Antonio Conte who replaced caretaker-manager Guus Hiddinck at the end of last season. The Blues have won their first two English top flight matches with wins over West Ham and Watford, and they’ll be looking for a third straight win at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
Chelsea also recorded a 3-2 home win over a spirited Bristol Rovers outfit in the League Cup, a competition they may take a little more seriously this season as insurance for a european spot for next season.
Focusing on the Premier League, Chelsea are now unbeaten in their last four matches overall, but having won on home turf just once in their last six league matches, I’m expecting a greater focus under Conte this afternoon against Burnley who they are expected to take maximum points from.
Onto Burnley, and they have made a swift return to the Premier League under manager Sean Dyche who repaid the faith shown in him by the Burnley board in spades as he guided his side back to the big time.
The hard work starts again now though for The Clarets who will be desperate to maintain their top flight status this time around, but they face a very difficult task of keeping a buoyant Chelsea quiet at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
Despite losing their opening match of the season 1-0 at home to Swansea City, they bounced back with a 2-0 home win over Liverpool, and I daresay their form at Turf Moor will be crucial to their survival this season.
But this is Burnley’s first away match of the season, and I fancy Chelsea to come out of the blocks quickly here today.
