Football – England – Premier League Betting Tips

With Tottenham losing away at West Ham United on Friday night, Premier League leaders Chelsea could take a huge step towards winning the title and opening up a significant seven point lead over Spurs if they beat second from bottom Middlesbrough this evening.

Chelsea return to Stamford Bridge where they hold an impressive home record that stands at  14-0-2  43/13 as the hosts go in search of a third consecutive league win following back-to-back victories over Southampton and Everton.

In addition, Chelsea have won 12 of their last 13 at the Bridge and have also collected seven clean sheets on home turf so far this season. Leading goalscorer and striker Diego Costa (19 goals) notched in Chelsea’s 1-0 win at the Riverside over tonight’s opponents Middlesbrough earlier in the season, and he could well strike again tonight.

Visitors Middlesbrough played out of their skins to earn a point at home to Manchester City in a 2-2 draw at the Riverside Stadium last time out, but time is running out for Boro who have registered just one league win from their last 18 matches overall.

Relegation rivals Hull City and Swansea City have picked up valuable points in recent weeks, and although Middlesbrough recorded a vital 1-0 home win over north-east rivals Sunderland recently, they now find themselves six points adrift of third from bottom club Hull, and seven points adrift of Swansea City and the safety of 17th place.

Boro’s predicament looks almost hopeless with a trip to Stamford Bridge looming on the back of a poor away record that stands at  1-7-9  10/24 which also includes failing to score on no fewer than 10 occasions from their 17 away matches to date in the top flight.

Therefore, there’s huge incentive for Chelsea to win this match, and I believe another 1-0 home win is on the cards here.
