Chievo earned a point away from home on Sunday in a 0-0 draw at third from bottom club Empoli in what would have been a slightly frustrating affair for Chievo, but they now return to their Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to entertain Bologna as they look to bounce back from their recent defeat to AC Milan.
Prior to that loss to Milan, Chievo had put together a very useful 11-match unbeaten run on home turf which is a record that extends back into last season, and if they manage to take all three points this evening, they could lift themselves up into one of the early european spots.
Chievo’s home record stands at 2-1-1 6/5 and they’ve registered wins over Inter Milan and Sassuolo to date. Their last meeting with Bologna ended in a 0-0 stalemate back in May.
Visitors Bologna sit in the bottom half of the Italian top flight having won, drawn and lost three matches apiece, and they face a tough assignment away at a stubborn Chievo outfit this evening as they look to lift themselves up into the top half of Serie A.
The visitors have been involved in three draws from their last four matches so I recommend exercising a level of caution around this pick, but Bologna are without an away win from their last 11 matches and they possess an away record this season of 0-2-2 4/10.
In addition, Bologna failed to score in five of those 11 away matches, so the advantage definitely appears to be with the hosts here, but again I advise keeping the draw on your side as much as possible.
