Chievo Verona Vs AC Milan

Italian Serie A

Sunday 25th October – 19:45 GMT (Betfair Live Video)

A Milan side buoyed by their midweek scalp of Real Madrid will have high inspirations of getting the win that would get their season back on track as far staying in touch with local rivals, Inter Milan, at the top of the Serie A table. What stands in their way of all three points is a Cheivo side that have put in some creditable performances at home, although, will the pairs most recent results affect the moods in the respective camps?

Milan are the favourites and we wouldn’t deny them that after their heroics in Madrid. Not many, including us, gave AC much chance against the mega-spending Real Madrid on Wednesday but they defied the odds to record a stunning 3-2 victory in the capital of Spain in what was a sensational game of football between two of the greats in European football. However, that result will count for nothing if they don’t back that up with a win back in the league, a league which they haven’t won now since 2004.

Milan already appear to have a mountain to climb in the league yet the season is just eight games old. Their local rivals have been far more consistent and Inter have opened up a seven point gap over their AC, that doesn’t include their game with Catania at the San Siro last night. With all this in mind, Milan will know they can ill-afford any more slip ups and a win away at Chievo is the only acceptable result for them.

However, Chievo have been a tough nut to crack on home soil, despite losing their last home game against Bari, 2-1. Chievo Verona have scored in each of their four home outings this far, scoring against Lazio, Genoa, Atalanta & Bari. The only problem for them has been their inability to keep a clean sheet. They may have scored in each of their four home fixtures but they’ve also conceded in each, as well.

Milan have a terrible knack of making hard work of what should be comfortable games for them and we can see them sweating over the result in Chievo. Milan are without an away win in their last three away trips, drawing at both Atalanta & Livorno, whilst falling to defeat against Udinese. Their stunning victory over the Galactico’s should stand them in good stead ahead of this trip but we can’t trust this current AC side to deliver and we can see the Milan back four coming undone once again.
