Copenhagen begin their defence of the Danish Superliga title when they play host to Lyngby at their Telia Parken ground as the home side look to get their new season off to a winning start.
Copenhagen will go onto this match on the back of some decent results in the ‘off season’ as they’ve beaten Russian outfit Amkar Prem in a friendly as well as registering a very useful 3-0 win away at Irish club Crusaders in the first leg of the Champions League second round qualifiers.
This evening’s hosts finished their last campaign in the domestic Superliga in strong fashion as they won six of their last seven league matches overall, while their home record finished up on an impressive 14-3-0 43/14, having won their last eight home matches on the trot.
Visitors Lyngby secured the 1st Division title at the end of last season to achieve promotion up to the Danish top flight even though they lost on the last day of the season 3-2 at home to Fredericia.
They face a tough baptism of fire away at Copenhagen in their opening Superliga match of this new season, and they will need to show resilience away from home this season if they’re to maintain their Superliga status this term.
The last time Lyngby were in the Superliga was four seasons ago, and they lost their last three away matches that season to Silkeborg, AGF and OB, conceding a total of 9 goals and scoring just 1 in reply, so this perhaps indicates their opportunities for improvement!
