It’s still early days in the Danish Superliga but already, Copenhagen have signalled their intentions to the rest of the league as they sit top of the division having won both of their opening games this season.
Copenhagen have got their season off to a terrific start as they’ve also disposed of Irish side Crusaders in the Champions League qualifiers by an emphatic 9-0 aggregate win, and they also avoided defeat away at Astra in the week in the first leg of the next round with a home match coming up next week.
But back to domestic football, and Copenhagen have registered wins over Lyngby 3-0 at home which was followed up with a resounding 4-0 win away at Esbjerg on the weekend. They head into Saturday afternoon’s clash against Nordsjaelland looking to record a tenth straight home win at their Telia Parken.
Nordsjaelland have won once and lost once in their opening two games of this new Danish Superliga campaign with a 4-0 win away at Viborg, but then lost at home to Midtjylland by the same scoreline last weekend.
The jury are still out therefore for the visitors this afternoon, but their away record last season finished up on a below-par 4-2-10 13/27 and they’ll need to improve upon their results on the road this season if they’re to avoid being sucked into a relegation battle.
In the last encounter between these two teams, Copenhagen ran out 2-0 winners at home and I can see a similar scoreline being played out here this afternoon with Copenhagen in promising early season form.
