Lowly Coritiba will take heart from the fact that they possess a pretty solid home record considering their current second from bottom position in the Brazilian top flight ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with 7th placed Atletico PR.
The hosts have lost just once at home in their first six matches with a home record of 2-3-1 11/10 and despite going into tonight’s game on the back of four matches without a win (Coritiba have drawn three of these last four), their form at their Estádio Major Antônio Couto ground has been pretty good.
Wins over Cruzeiro and Sport Recife along with holding Sao Paulo, Palmeiras and Internacional to draws (the latter two being the top two sides of the division to date), will give them confidence here tonight.
Visitors Atletico PR sit in 7th spot in the Brazilian Serie A but this is largely due to an impressive home record as they’ve won their last four on the trot on home turf amidst an overall record of 4-1-0 7/2.
However, away from home has been their achilles heel so far as they’ve managed just one win on the road so far this season which was a 2-1 win at mid-table Sao Paulo within a poor away record of 1-1-4 5/11.
Only America Mineiro and Chapecoense have shipped more goals than them away from home on their travels so far, and recent defeats at Botafogo and Ponte Preta are not good signs for the visitors this evening as they look to improve their fortunes on the road.
