Coventry City will be looking to continue their promising improvement in form when they host Crewe Alexandra following a solid point away at Bristol City in last weekend’s 0-0 draw at Ashton Gate.
Coventry have lost just twice in their last ten League One matches overall, as the introduction of manager Tony Mowbray seems to be doing the trick for the Sky Blues. Despite mixed results at their City of Coventry Stadium, the hosts have registered notable wins over third placed MK Dons as well as Colchester United recently, but they still have further work to do on home turf.
Their overall home record stands at 6-9-7 24/30 but they go into today’s clash on the back of four matches without defeat. Forwards Nouble and Jackson could be decent anytime goal scorer picks for the hosts.
CREWE ALEXANDRA
Visitors Crewe Alexandra have slipped back dangerously close to the relegation zone in League One following a run of three straight draws for The Railwaymen. Despite picking up points against Leyton Orient, Peterborough United and Walsall, Crewe need a win to alleviate their relegation worries as they now sit just one league place and two points above fourth from bottom club Leyton Orient.
However, just one win on the road from their last eight doesn’t fill me with confidence, even if it was at Sheffield United, as they’ve also lost six matches on their travels during this sequence. Crewe’s away record stands at 5-3-14 19/46 and they’ve shipped the most goals away from home in the division.
In addition, only Crawley Town (18 goals) have scored fewer on the road than The Railwaymen so far this season.
To sum up, this looks like a home win to me with Coventry taking the points in perhaps a 1-0 win. It’s interesting to note that their price has dropped considerably from the starting odds too!
