Brighton Road is the location of my next pick as hosts Crawley Town take on Walsall in a bottom half clash in League One on Tuesday night with both teams needing points to pull away from the bottom four.
Crawley have lost their last two on the trot with a heavy 1-4 defeat to Peterborough United at home which was then followed by a 3-5 loss away at Notts County on the weekend as the Red Devils have won just once now in their last six league matches.
But to put their recent results into perspective, they’ve played three of the top six sides in Preston North End, Peterborough and Notts County (all resulting in defeats), while their matches against bottom half teams Yeovil Town and Coventry City ended up with a 2-0 home win and a 2-2 draw away from home respectively.
Crawley’s overall home record stands at 3-0-3 6/11 which includes wins over Swindon Town, Fleetwood Town and Yeovil Town.
Visitors Walsall also go into tonight’s match on the back of two straight defeats to Oldham Athletic away and Saturday’s home loss to bottom club Crewe Alexandra which would have been a massive wake-up call for the midlands outfit.
But can they do anything to bounce back at Crawley tonight? Well, The Saddlers’ recent away results suggest that the best they can hope for is a point on the road tonight as they’ve failed to win in their last nine matches on their travels.
In fact, Walsall have won just once in their last fourteen matches (and that was at Bradford City last season), while their away record this season at the moment stands at 0-3-3 3/9, failing to score on three occasions already.
Crawley need to bounce back, and with home advantage behind them, together with Walsall’s poor away form, I reckon the attractively priced draw no bet option is the way to go here at odds of evens. Crawley might edge this perhaps 1-0.
