CREWE v NOTTS COUNTY – Pick: 2 AH0 – 30 September 2014

Magpies to swoop on poor Crewe

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Tuesday 30th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Crewe Alexandra will be looking to bounce back from two miserable performances in League One when they host Notts County at Gresty Road tonight.

A 1-6 pounding at the hands of MK Dons recently was made even worse with a 0-3 home defeat to Colchester United on Saturday which handed The Railwaymen back-to-back defeats and they remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the division with just four points to their name so far.

A total of 9 goals then have been conceded in their last two matches and confidence must be reaching rock bottom even at this early stage of the season, and it looks a very long road ahead for Crewe who have managed just one win in the league to date.

That win was a 2-1 win over Port Vale, but they face a Notts County outfit tonight who have remained unbeaten so far on their travels.

Onto the visitors then, and as mentioned, The Magpies are still unbeaten away from home with three draws (at Preston North End, Peterborough United and Chesterfield – all of whom are in the top eight of League One), along with a win at Port Vale 2-0.

Notts County’s overall away record stands at  1-3-0  4/2, and they’ve only lost twice this season with both defeats incidentally coming at their Meadow Lane ground.

County’s away form has been tightened up somewhat though and they’re unbeaten in their last five on their travels which will surely place the visitors in a much stronger mind-set than their hosts ahead of tonight’s encounter.

In addition to conceding 9 goals in their last two matches, Crewe have also lost their promising striker Max Clayton to Championship side Bolton Wanderers in a 3-year deal, so I’ll back the visitors with the generously priced round ball here tonight, but Notts County could edge this one perhaps 1-0.
