Crystal Palace could jump into sixth spot in the Premier league if they take all three points against a poor Sunderland outfit at Selhurst Park in Monday night’s fixture.
Palace went into the international break on the back of an excellent 2-1 win away at Liverpool at Anfield which will give them a boost ahead of today’s match against Sunderland, but I daresay Alan Pardew and his boys would have rather carried on while the iron was hot so to speak.
The majority of Crystal Palace’s wins have bee away from home strangely enough, but they have a great chance of improving their record at Selhurst Park this evening as it currently stands at a below-par 2-1-3 6/7.
Sunderland make the long trip down to the nation’s capital looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the English top flight following their 6-2 hammering at Everton which was followed by a 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton before the break.
It’s been a pretty bleak season so far for the Black Cats as they’ve managed just one win which was their customary derby win over Newcastle United, but joking aside, manager Sam Allardyce has a monumental task on his hands to keep Sunderland in the Premier League.
In addition, Sunderland’s away form hasn’t done them any favours as their current record stands at a poor 0-1-5 6/18 and along with newcomers Bournemouth, Sunderland have conceded the most away goals so far in the division to date.
Four away defeats on the trot, combined with failing to score on three occasions and zero clean sheets on their travels should equal another away defeat for Sunderland here.
