CRYSTAL PALACE v WEST BROM – Pick: 1 – 18 April 2015

Eagles have momentum on their side

Premier League Tips

Football – England – Premier League

Saturday 18th April 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Crystal Palace secured a fourth successive Premier League win last Saturday with a 4-1 thumping of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light which has lifted Alan Pardew’s men into a comfortable mid-table position.

This is a far-cry from the Palace that Pardew took over following his departure from former club Newcastle United. The Eagles were floundering third from bottom in the Premier League when Pardew took over the reigns at Selhurst Park, and since then, he has transformed his side with some notable results.

In his twelve matches in charge so far, Palace have registered eight wins with notable victories coming against Tottenham, West Ham (one of Pardew’s former clubs), Stoke City and Manchester City, while their home record has improved to  5-3-7  19/21. There’s a few anytime goalscorer candidates among the likes of Murray, Zaha, Bolasie and Gayle.

Tony Pulis takes his West Brom side to Selhurst Park to face one of his former clubs Crystal Palace where he spent a season and a half ensuring The Eagles’ Premiership survival. He now finds himself in a very similar position with The Baggies as they currently occupy 14th place but they do have a seven-point cushion ahead of the bottom three.

However, West Brom head into this afternoon’s clash on the back of a string of defeats having lost four of their last five with losses to Aston Villa, Manchester City, a heavy 4-1 home loss to QPR and last Saturday’s loss to Leicester City.

Pulis did however enjoy West Brom’s 1-0 win over his former club Stoke City no doubt, but that was at The Hawthorns. Away from home has been challenging to say the least as the midlanders possess a  2-6-7  9/20 record and they’ve gone ten matches without a win on the road. in addition, West Brom have failed to score on eight occasions to date on their travels.

With Crystal Palace possessing that ‘winning mentality’ at the moment, and with confidence definitely on their side, I’ll back The Eagles for perhaps a 1-0 win here.
