Dagenham will be looking to register back-to-back League Two wins when they host Newport County on Saturday afternoon following their good win at Accrington Stanley last weekend.
Dagenham took the points in a 2-1 win at John Coleman’s Accrington Stanley which lifted them away from the bottom two in the division, and with Newport having won just once so far on their travels this season, The Daggers may well fancy their chances of adding to their points tally this afternoon.
Results have been a bit mixed for Dagenham in recent weeks with wins over York City and Accrington Stanley, but also defeats against Portsmouth 0-3 away and a 1-2 loss to Exeter City at home, while their overall home record stands at 2-0-4 7/10.
However, wins over Mansfield Town and York City should give them belief that they can get at least a point here today.
Onto Newport County then, and it seems to be a familiar story unfolding again this season for Justin Edinburgh’s men as they hold a solid home record at their Rodney Parade ground, but continue to struggle on the road.
As if to emphasise this, their home and away records are direct opposites with home being 3-2-1 and their away record reads 1-2-3 3/5 – The Exiles’ two recent wins being on home turf over AFC Wimbledon and York City respectively, while their most recent defeat was away at second from bottom club Oxford United.
Scoring goals on their travels has been their key let-down this season and they’ve failed to score in four of their six away matches, so with these stats, the best they can hope for at the moment is a draw it appears.
On this basis, I’ll therefore back Dagenham to perhaps edge this one as they are at least capable of scoring a goal or two as well as having home advantage – this might end up a draw so I recommend backing Dagenham with the well-priced round ball here.
