Dagenham have recently suffered two heavy defeats at their newly named Chigwell Construction Stadium having been thrashed 5-0 by Gateshead and the Saturday whipping incurred against Barrow in a 4-1 embarrassment, so they’ll be keen to exact some revenge on Torquay United here this evening.
In recent weeks, Dagenham have found it a little easier to register wins away from home as they’ve collected maximum points at York City and Maidstone United in 2-0 and 1-0 wins respectively, but they’ll be looking to kick-start their promotion campaign at home tonight.
The Daggers still possess a reasonable looking home record which stands at 6-2-3 14/12 and a 2-1-1 6/6 record at home against bottom half opposition (of which category Torquay United sit in) having registered wins over Southport and North Ferriby United.
Onto Torquay United and The Gulls sit in a lowly 18th place in the National League following just one victory from their last eight league matches overall which was a 3-0 home win over Solihull Moors during last week.
However, the west country outfit’s away form has been quite simply dreadful so far this term with a record of 1-1-9 5/19 behind them and they head into tonight’s clash on the back of four straight defeats on their travels having lost at Chester, Eastleigh, Guiseley and Tranmere Rovers conceding 8 goals and scoring just 1 in reply during this four-match sequence.
Needless to say I’ll be backing the home side Dagenham here to bounce back with a much-needed three points to keep their promotion ambitions on track.
