Darts look to continue momentum

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 15th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Dartford will be looking to post back-to-back Conference wins for the first time this season when they host fellow strugglers Southport at Princes Park on Saturday afternoon.

Dartford have won three of their last four overall with wins over Burgess Hill Town in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup, then a first round win away at Bromley before registering all three points against Welling United in a 2-1 home win in the Conference Premier in midweek.

That win over Welling ended a run of six matches without a win, but on home turf The Darts are unbeaten in their last four which includes draws with Grimsby Town, Macclesfield Town and Aldershot Town as well as the Welling win.

Dartford’s home record stands at  3-5-2  13/12 and they’ve beaten the teams around them in the division such as AFC Telford, Dover Athletic and Welling.

Visitors Southport make the long trip down to Kent after enjoying a spell of four home matches in their last five in the Conference. The Sandgrounders gained two draws, and a win during this phase but suffered defeat at the hands of high-flying Woking. The win came against Welling United while draws were against Lincoln City and Dover Athletic.

On the road, Southport have struggled for the same consistency as at Haig Avenue as they’ve registered a record of  2-2-4  8/13 thus far, although they have won their last two back-to-back with wins at Grimsby Town and Braintree Town.

But Southport have a diabolical record away from home as a rule and they’ve won just twice in their last 30 away matches so it’ll be interesting to see if they can keep their winning run going at Princes Park this afternoon. I don’t think so, but I’ll back the hosts with the round ball here to be safe – Dartford might win this 2-1.
