Darts to clip Welling's Wings

Football – England – Conference Premier

Tuesday 11th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Dartford overcame a spirited Bromley outfit in the weekend’s all-Kent clash in the first round of the FA Cup when they narrowly squeezed through with a 4-3 win away.

With that potential banana skin out of the way, they can now look forward to being in the hat for the second round as their attentions turn back to the Conference Premier in tonight’s encounter with fellow strugglers Welling United. Dartford currently occupy one of the four relegation spots in the Conference but they’ve lost just twice on home turf this season.

Dartford’s overall home record stands at  2-5-2  11/11 and they’ve recently held the likes of Grimsby Town, Macclesfield Town and Aldershot Town to draws, along with a win over Dover Athletic.

Incidentally, in the earlier meeting between these two sides, Dartford earned a point at Welling with a 2-2 draw back in early October.

Visitors Welling United sit just two league places and two points above today’s opponents Dartford, and they’ve won just once in their last six matches which was a 4-1 home win over second from bottom club Nuneaton Town.

But three defeats from their last four matches has prevented The Wings from breaking away from the bottomed of the division, while their away record of  1-1-7  8/17 has hardly helped them either.

Welling’s one success on the road came at bottom half club Altrincham in a 4-0 win back in September, but overall Welling have been poor on their travels with defeats at Torquay United, Halifax Town, Eastleigh, Grimsby Town, Wrexham, Kidderminster and Southport.

Having already earned a point away from home against Welling, I’ll back the hosts Dartford with home advantage in this one with the round ball as they may well nick this one perhaps 2-1.
