DERBY COUNTY v BRISTOL CITY

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Saturday afternoon’s Championship clash with Bristol City at the iPro Stadium represents a ‘must-win’ game for hosts Derby County as they sit in 8th place and find themselves six points adrift of Sheffield Wednesday following The Owls’ 3-0 win over Birmingham City on Friday night.

A spate of recent defeats, particularly away from home for Derby have held them back from pushing for a play-off position following losses to Norwich City, Leeds United and last weekend’s defeat at Championship league leaders Newcastle United.

But these three recent losses were all away from home, and now back at the iPro, I fancy The Rams to bounce back and further improve their home record that stands at  7-4-3  15/7. Derby are unbeaten in their last nine on home turf, and have kept a total of 10 clean sheets so far.

Visitors Bristol City tend to gain great delight in upsetting the ‘big boys’ especially away from home, but The Robins have been far less convincing this season, not only away from home, but in their overall form generally as they’ve gained just one win from their last ten matches.

That rare success came in last weekend’s relegation clash against Rotherham United which they won 1-0 at Ashton Gate, but a trip to Derby County today could well be beyond them, particularly when looking at their away record this season which stands at a poor  2-2-10  18/23.

The Robins have also lost their last six away matches on the trot, along with going a total of nine away matches without a win – their last triumph on the road was a 4-0 romp at Fulham way back in September of last year!
