Rams to extend unbeaten home run

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 25th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Derby County edged out Blackpool 1-0 away at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night to move top of the Championship, and they now look forward to Saturday’s home game with struggling Wigan Athletic.

Tuesday night’s win makes it four wins from Derby’s last five league matches with previous wins secured against Bolton Wanderers, Bournemouth and Reading (all to nil too I might add), along with a 0-0 draw against Millwall in between times.

The Rams are now unbeaten in their last ten matches overall, while their home record stands at a solid  3-3-0  11/4 which includes three clean sheets. Today’s visitors Wigan have scored just 4 goals on their travels to date so I daresay manager Steve McClaren will be keen for his defence to register another clean sheet here this afternoon.

Striker Chris Martin (9 goals) looks the likeliest anytime goalscorer for Derby here as fellow forward Jamie Ward could be out injured.

Following their 0-0 draw at home with Millwall on Tuesday night, visitors Wigan Athletic have now gone eight matches without a Championship win as they have nicked single points during this sequence (including five draws, and their last four on the trot have been stalemates).

The Latics have also lost to Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town and away at Bournemouth and their last league win came at the end of August with a 4-0 home win over Birmingham City at their DW Stadium.

On the road, Wigan are still without a win under their belts with an overall record of  0-2-4  4/10 as scoring goals on their travels has been the main problem; in fact, Wigan have failed to score on three occasions so far and come up against a solid Derby defence today.

Derby are on a roll, and i have to pick them today to continue their good run particularly against a side who haven’t won away from home in the Championship to date. So, perhaps a 1-0 win for the hosts who will aim to break Wigan’s run of four draws on the bounce.

Pick: Derby County straight win @ 1.75 Bet Victor
