I’m expecting a reaction from hosts Djurgarden this evening following an unfamiliar slump in the Swedish Allsvenskan as they’ve suffered three league defeats on the trot conceding 7 goals and scoring just 1 in reply.
Defeats to Hammarby at home 3-1 and back-to-back away losses at Malmo and Elfsborg 1-0 and 3-0 respectively have undone Djurgarden’s great start to the new campaign which saw them register three wins on the trot in their first three matches of the season.
Djurgarden’s home record stands at 1-0-1 6/3 but overall, they’ve been involved in some high-scoring matches so far this term with 4 of their 6 matches ending in over 2.5 goals. USA striker Johnson (5 goals) leads the way in their goalscoring charts so far.
Visitors Ostersund could be forgiven for believing they have a chance of getting something at Djurgarden this evening as the hosts seem to have hit a road-bump, along with the fact that Ostersund remain unbeaten on their travels so far this season.
Despite a 4-2 defeat at home to Orebro last week, Ostersund will have gained a lot of confidence from their matches on the road so far as they’ve held Hammarby and Gefle to 1-1 and 0-0 draws respectively which were the sandwich between a 2-1 win at Falkenberg.
Admittedly, these results were gained against bottom half opposition but the early signs are that they will be able to hold their own in the Allsvenskan following promotion from the Superettan last season.
Djurgarden should win this one, but it may not be as easy as they expect.
