With automatic promotion already secured, Doncaster Rovers will now turn their attentions to capturing the League Two title when they play host to Blackpool at their Keepmoat Stadium as the hosts hold a useful six point lead over second placed Plymouth Argyle heading into the Easter Monday fixtures.
Doncaster earned a point in a 1-1 draw away at Colchester United on Good Friday which followed back-to-back wins registered against Grimsby Town and Mansfield Town respectively. Rovers also hold a great record at home too, having suffered just one defeat all season amidst an excellent record of 14-6-1 39/18.
This lone loss was against Plymouth Argyle, but otherwise Rovers have been in commanding form at the Keepmoat with the likes of forwards Marquis (26 goals) and Williams (10 goals) getting amongst the goals.
Visitors Blackpool still have a chance of claiming a play-off spot but they’ve made hard work of this in recent weeks as they’ve suffered back-to-back losses to Luton Town and Grimsby Town along with being held to a 0-0 stalemate with mid-table Accrington Stanley last time out.
The Seasiders now sit just one position outside of the play-off pack and two points adrift of 7th placed Carlisle United, but they’ll need to take something from this difficult game in order to stay in contention I feel.
With an indifferent away record of 7-7-7 28/21 this may be easier said than done, although they’ve suffered just one defeat on their travels from their last five away matches.
But Doncaster’s quality should shine through here, but I’ll give the quarter-ball on the hosts in case it ends up a draw.
