DOVER v BARNET – Pick: 2 – 10 September 2014

Bees to maintain 100% away record at Dover

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Wednesday 10th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Dover registered a healthy 4-1 win away from home at AFC Telford on Saturday, but the real test is ahead of them in tonight’s clash against Conference Premier league leaders Barnet when they meet at the Perrys Crabble Stadium.

With only seven matches of the new season played, it appears that AFC Telford’s fate is already sealed and Dover’s heavy win certainly won’t be the last I fear. But we need to put this win into perspective as Dover had previously suffered back-to-back defeats against Woking 1-6 away and a 0-1 home loss to Kidderminster.

It’s been a bit of a mixed bag of results for the Kent outfit though as they’ve beaten the likes of Eastleigh already, but have also succumbed to FC Halifax and Braintree Town. The early signs are that Dover have enough to stay out of trouble this term but they could struggle against the stronger teams of the division, and Barnet are definitely in this category.

Onto the visitors then, and Barnet will be looking to chalk up a fifth consecutive Conference Premier win tonight on the back of wins over Nuneaton Town, Dartford, Southport and Alfreton Town.

In fact, Barnet have won six of their first seven matches with their only defeat so far being a home defeat to Lincoln City. But on their travels, The Bees have racked up three straight wins, winning them all to nil by the way, with victories over Chester 5-0, Nuneaton Town 2-0 and Southport 2-0.

Midfielder Cook (6 goals) and strikers MacDonald (5 goals) and Akinde (3 goals) have provided the firepower so far, and with a solid defence behind them, Barnet look a good bet to take all three points here tonight.

Dover seem to be struggling to find any sort of consistency at the moment while Barnet are on a mission to rack up as many wins as possible – and confidence is high. I’ll therefore back Barnet to continue their good early season form with a win here tonight, possibly by a 1-0 scoreline.
