Dover Athletic will be looking to break into the play-off pack in the National League on Saturday afternoon when they entertain second from bottom outfit Guiseley at their Perrys Crabble Stadium having won three of their last four matches overall.
Recent wins over Braintree Town in a heavy 6-1 victory, 2-0 away at Bromley and last weekend’s 3-2 win at Solihull Moors have lifted Dover into sixth place and they now sit just one league position and one point adrift of Barrow who currently occupy the last play-off spot as we head into this weekend.
Dover’s home record stands at 6-0-3 23/16 but their recent four-match winning sequence came to an end last time out when they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to third placed Tranmere Rovers. However, with the likes of prolific striker Miller (18 goals) banging in the goals, the home side could well bounce back today.
Visitors Guiseley have endured a difficult campaign so far this season as they sit second from bottom in the National League but they’ll be hopeful that they can build upon their recent 2-0 home win over Torquay United when they make their way down to the coast today.
However, Guiseley have managed just three league wins so far this season and all of them have come at their Nethermoor Park ground having registered wins over York City, Southport and Torquay united.
But it’s one thing to record wins over teams that are also situated in the bottom half of the division (and at home), but a very different prospect having to travel to an in-form Dover side. In addition, Guiseley hold a poor away record that stands at 0-1-8 6/17 as they’ve taken just one point from a possible total of 27!
