There’s just the one league game being played on Tuesday night in the Scottish Championship, but it’s a game where I feel we can make some money as Dundee United take on second from bottom club Ayr United at Tannadice Park.
Although Dundee United’s form has taken a sharp decline in recent matches which has seen them go five league matches without a win, they have still hung onto fourth place and the last remaining promotion play-off spot with an eight point lead over fifth placed Queen of the South.
Nevertheless, United will be keen to stop this miserable run of form on home turf tonight where they still possess a solid looking record of 8-4-1 22/11 with their one defeat being to Championship league leaders Hibernian. The Terrors also have a good record at home against bottom half opposition which reads 4-2-0 12/6.
Visitors Ayr United currently occupy second from bottom and the relegation play-off spot in the Scottish Championship ahead of their trip to Dundee tonight, but recent back-to-back wins against Dunfermline Athletic and Dumbarton will have boosted their confidence.
It should be noted though that both of these recent wins were gained over bottom half opposition, while their away record stands at 3-7-4 15/19 as they seem to set their stall out to defend and try and secure a point on the road.
Ayr also hold a below-par record of 1-3-3 6/11 away from home against top half opposition so far this season, and a trip to Dundee United will be a serious test for the visitors this evening I feel.
