EASTLEIGH v LINCOLN – Pick: 1/Both teams to score – 15 November 2014

Spitfires to edge high-scoring clash with Imps

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 15th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Eastleigh and Lincoln City meet for the second time in seven days this afternoon, this time in the Conference Premier as they battle it out again at the Silverlake Stadium.

Eastleigh registered a 2-1 win over The Imps last Saturday in the first round of the FA Cup thanks to a last-gasp goal by forward Strevens which earned The Spitfires a second round tie away at either Dagenham & Redbridge or Southport. But it’s back to Conference Premier action today with Eastleigh looking to extend their four match unbeaten run.

Recent wins over Halifax Town, Nuneaton Town and Chester 4-1, 2-1 and 3-2 respectively (and all at home) along with a valuable point at 8th placed Forest Green Rovers has maintained the south coast’s club position in the top haf of the division. Eastleigh’s home record stands at an impressive  7-3-0  21/11.

Visitors Lincoln City grabbed a very late equaliser in their crazy 3-3 midweek draw away at second placed Gateshead in a match that included no fewer than three penalties. Power scored two from the spot for The Imps while forward Sam-Yorke notched his 5th goal in as many games to continue his goalscoring streak.

Despite being placed 14th in the Conference currently, Lincoln have certainly been amongst the goals in recent weeks as they’ve scored 10 goals and conceded 9 in their last five league matches, which includes two 3-3 draws (v Gateshead and Forest Green Rovers) while their overall away record stands at  2-3-5  17/22.

Only Barnet (22 goals) and Torquay United (18 goals) have scored more goals on the road than Lincoln who possess forwards Burrow (6 goals), Tomlinson (6 goals) and Sam-Yorke, while The Imps along with Dover Athletic have conceded the most number of away goals in the division so far.

Eastleigh’s home record is a very strong one, and with their recent cup win over Lincoln, I’ll back them to do the same again here this afternoon and win perhaps 2-1. I sense extra value in backing the home win and both teams to score as well.
