EASTLEIGH v LINCOLN – Pick: Both teams to score – 08 November 2014

Spitfires and Imps to slug it out at Silverlake

FA Cup & League Cup Tips

Football – England – FA Cup 1st Round

Saturday 8th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Next up is an encounter between Eastleigh and Lincoln City, both from the Conference Premier, battling it out at the Silverlake Stadium for a place in the second round of the FA Cup.

Eastleigh have adapted well so far with the step up in the non-league ladder with this being their first ever season in the Conference Premier. The south coast outfit currently sit in 8th place and are still unbeaten at their Silverlake ground, registering seven wins and three draws to date.

Their overall form has also been pretty steady and they’ve won their last three on the trot (home and away), while at home they’ve also won their last three on the bounce with recent wins over Halifax Town 4-1, Nuneaton Town 2-1 and Chester 3-2. The Spitfires have scored in every home match so far and have kept just two clean sheets, so both teams have scored in 8 of their 10 home matches.

Eastleigh beat Kidderminster 1-0 away to reach the first round proper of this year’s FA Cup.

Lincoln City currently sit mid-table of the Conference Premier and prior to last weekend’s surprise 1-2 home defeat to Altrincham, The Imps had put together a six match unbeaten run in all competitions. This also included a 1-1 draw away at Alfreton Town in the qualifying round for the Cup before they smashed the Derbyshire outfit 5-1 in the replay to earn their place in the first round,

Lincoln’s away form though in the league hasn’t been consistent at all despite two early wins on the road at Altrincham and Barnet (both by 2-1). They’ve now gone seven matches without a win on their travels but the good news is that they’ve scored in 7 of their 9 away matches to date and have conceded in all of them.

Eastleigh possess the likes of Fleetwood, Strevens, Constable and McAllister up front while Lincoln have Burrow, Sam-Yorke and Tomlinson in their ranks. This should add up to at least a couple of goals here this afternoon and both teams to score – don’t be surprised if this ends up perhaps 1-1 and a replay needed to settle the tie.
