Everton will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to five matches tonight when they play host to Alan Pardews’ Crystal Palace side, who they could leapfrog if they take all three points this evening.
Despite conceding a very late equaliser to Bournemouth last weekend, Roberto Martinez’s side have improved in recent weeks with wins registered over Sunderland and Aston Villa along with points taken off West Ham and Bournemouth which were both recorded away from home.
The Toffees’ home form has also improved at Goodison Park where they’ve lost just once in their last five matches which was a 3-0 loss to Manchester United. Aside from that though, Everton have also beaten Chelsea 3-1 and drawn with merseyside rivals Liverpool. Everton’s home record stands at 3-2-2 16/11.
Crystal Palace bounced back from their defeat i the north-east against Sunderland last weekend by thrashing their counterparts Newcastle United 5-1 at Selhurst Park which would have been a very sweet victory for former Magpies boss Alan Pardew.
But Pardew needs to instil greater consistency in his Eagles side as recent results have been very up and down with wins over Liverpool and Newcastle United as well as defeats to Leicester City and Sunderland.
Crystal Palace’s away record stands at a reasonable 4-0-2 8/5 but they’ve alternated between wins and defeats in their last five matches on their travels. Therefore, a point at Goodison Park tonight would be considered a solid point gained for the London club.
I’m swaying towards Everton here in this one as I believe they have enough about them to at least avoid defeat but they could nick this perhaps 1-0.
