Everton’s promising nine-game unbeaten sequence in the Premier League came to an abrupt end last weekend when they went down to a 3-2 defeat away at Tottenham at White Hart Lane, but they return to their Goodison Park fortress for this afternoon’s match with West Brom as the hosts look to return to winning ways.
Despite losing 3-2, Everton will be encouraged by their comeback along with striker Lukaku notching his 18th goal for the season, and with a solid home record of 8-4-1 27/10 behind them, The Toffees will be confident they can bounce back at Goodison Park.
Everton have also won their last four matches on the trot with wins gained against Southampton, Manchester City, Bournemouth and Sunderland as the goals have flowed with the hosts scoring a total of 15 goals and conceding just 3 in reply!
Visitors West Brom have also enjoyed a solid season so far as The Baggies sit in 8th place and a top half finish for Tony Pulis’ boys would be regarded as a successful campaign in the top flight for the west midlands club.
West Brom have made themselves a hard unit to break down at home as they have followed Pulis’ successful blueprint from his former Stoke City days, but they’re still experiencing inconsistent results away from home as they’ve recorded a 2-1 win at Southampton but suffered defeats at Arsenal and Tottenham also.
The Baggies’ away record also reflects their vulnerabilities on the road with a record of 3-5-5 12/17 which includes just one clean sheet on their travels which was in their first away match of the season at Crystal Palace.
I have to therefore go with the Everton momentum here…
