Bottom half Falkenberg will be looking for their first win in four matches when they host second placed AIK on Sunday afternoon following three draws from their last four.
Stalemates with Hacken 1-1, Halmstad 1-1 and Mjallby 1-1 away including a 0-1 defeat away at Helsingborg have been the hosts results lately and they currently sit in 11th place (out of a 16 team division) on 14 points.
Falkenberg have lost just twice at home so far this season which were reverses against third placed Kalmar 1-3 and fourth placed Elfsborg 2-3 but have registered home wins over Brommapojkarna and Djurgarden, while their overall home record stands at 2-3-2 8/9.
However, the defeats to Kalmar and Elfsborg perhaps underline their weaknesses against the better teams in the division and they may have their work cut out here today against AIK.
Onto the visitors AIK then, and they suffered a shock 0-1 loss away at Irish outfit Linfield in the Europa League qualifiers first leg on Thursday night. They now return to the domestic front and will no doubt be looking to maintain their unbeaten run of six away matches without defeat here this afternoon.
In the Allsvenskan, AIK have put together an impressive nine match unbeaten run going into today’s encounter which includes notable wins over Elfsborg 2-1, Atvidaberg 3-0 at home and Kalmar 3-0 away while their overall away record reads a healthy 3-3-0 14/9.
In addition, AIK hold a solid record away from home at the bottom half clubs so far of 2-1-0 7/3 and will be looking to improve upon that record against Falkenberg and put the Linfield result behind them as soon as possible.
Falkenberg could suffer a backlash here this afternoon with the visit of a wounded AIK who will be keen to set the record straight with all three points this afternoon. However, I do recommend backing the visitors and give the quarter ball here to be on the safe side. AIK may win this one 2-1.
