FC Tokyo will be looking to continue their unbeaten start at home in the J-League tonight when they take on bottom club Vegalta Sendai at their Ajinomoto Stadium.
Tokyo have registered a 3-1 win over Albirex Niigata along with a point against Montedio Yamagata on home soil so far, while their early home record stands at 1-1-0 3/1. Given Tokyo’s early results on the road so far, which both ended in defeats at Kawasaki Frontale and Kashima Antlers, the hosts will be keen to press home their advantage on home turf tonight.
FC Tokyo are unbeaten in their last four at home which includes three straight wins over Kashiwa Reysol, Shimizu S-Pulse and of course Albirex Niigata.
Visitors Vegalta Sendai haven’t made the best of starts with the resumption of the Japanese top flight as they currently occupy bottom place in the J-League with just one point to their name to date.
That point was earned in 0-0 draw away at Ventforet Kofu but aside from that, they’ve crashed to three defeats from their first four matches with losses to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, Vissel Kobe and Kashiwa Reysol.
Vegalta Sendai’s early away form reads 0-1-0 0/0 and they’re actually unbeaten in their last four on the road having registered back-to-back wins at Albirex Niigata and Vissel Kobe along with draws at Gamba Osaka and Ventforet Kofu. It should be noted however, that the wins were both recorded in the last phase (back in May).
FC Tokyo have made a good start at home and despite Vegalta’s unbeaten run on the road, I’ll back the hosts with the round ball to perhaps sneak a 1-0 win here.
