FOREST GREEN v LINCOLN – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 01 November 2014

Rovers should ease past poor travelling Imps

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 1st November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Forest Green Rovers progressed through to the first round proper of the FA Cup last Saturday when they thrashed hapless Conference South outfit Gloucester City 4-1 away in the final qualifying round, and they’ll be looking to post a third win on the trot this afternoon.

Forest Green host Lincoln City on Saturday in the Conference Premier at the New Lawn ground where they hold a record of  4-2-2  11/7 with recent wins over second placed Halifax Town and Torquay United although they did lose to Barnet and Wrexham also.

However, Forest Green have beaten both of the bottom half teams they’ve played at home so far with wins over Chester 2-1 and Alfreton Town 2-0, so a visit from Lincoln City should result in at least a point for the hosts, if not all three.

Visitors Lincoln City have lost just once in their last six matches overall which was a 1-2 loss at third from bottom club Nuneaton Town but they did register a win against AFC Telford at their Sincil Bank ground.

Lincoln have been involved in three draws from their last six matches with draws against Gateshead, Southport and Wrexham, while their overall away record stands at a below par  2-1-5  11/16 having failed to win in their last six on their travels.

Indeed, The Imps have lost five of their last six away matches with just a point at 18th placed Southport as scant return from a possible 18 points on offer.

Forest Green’s overall solid form both home and away should stand them in good stead this afternoon against a Lincoln City outfit who have really struggled away from home in the Conference in the last couple of months. Forest Green should win but the recent draws involving Lincoln has me leaning towards backing Rovers and giving the quarter ball – Rovers could win 2-1.
