GATESHEAD v ALDERSHOT – Pick: 1 – 27 September 2014

A Shot to the Heed for the hosts

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 27th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

After two matches on the road, Gateshead return to more familiar surroundings when they host Aldershot Town at the Gateshead International Stadium and will no doubt be looking to continue their strong form in front of their home crowd.

Gateshead picked up valuable points away at Macclesfield Town and Welling United both in 1-1 draws, but with an overall home record so far of  4-0-1  11/9, they’ll be confident of picking up more points today. The Heed have picked up wins over second placed Torquay United 3-1, Chester 2-1, AFC Telford 4-1 and Dartford 1-0 but were dealt an inexplicable 1-6 thrashing at the hands of Grimsby Town in their second home match of the season.

But overall, Gateshead are a hard team to beat on home turf as their previous results testify – just two defeats from their last 24 home matches tells it’s own story.

Aldershot Town recently ended a run of four matches without a win when they overcame Lincoln City at the Recreation Ground last Saturday, but they now have a tough and long trip ahead of them up to fifth placed Gateshead this weekend where they’ll look to gain only their second away win of the season.

It’s just the one win on the road for The Shots so far this term which came away at Conference ‘whipping boys’ AFC Telford in a 2-0 win but aside from that, Aldershot have struggled to make an impact on their travels.

Defeats to Eastleigh and Halifax along with draws at Torquay United and Nuneaton Town mean that their overall away record currently sits at  1-2-2  4/4.

Gateshead know that they’ll be relying heavily on their home form to get another play-off place this season, and having started in strong fashion again on home turf, I’ll back them for the points here this afternoon in what could be a 1-0 win for the hosts.

Pick: Gateshead straight win @ 2.00 Interwetten
