Gateshead maintained their push for the play-offs in the National League on Saturday when they registered a valuable 2-1 home win over struggling Woking, and they once again hold home advantage at their Gateshead International Stadium on Tuesday night when they take on bottom half outfit Guiseley.
The win on Saturday extended Gateshead’s unbeaten sequence to eight matches overall, of which Gateshead have racked up seven wins during this impressive run. Despite this recent win though, The Heed still only hold a slender two-point lead over Dover Athletic ahead of Tuesday night’s round of matches.
But Gateshead do possess a strong record on home turf which now stands at 9-8-2 35/16 and they’re unbeaten in their last seven matches, which includes four straight wins on the trot. Leading goalscorers Johnson (18 goals) and York (9 goals) notched on the weekend.
Visitors Guiseley extended their unbeaten run in the National League to four matches on the weekend when they earned a point away at Boreham Wood in a 0-0 stalemate which followed on from earlier wins over Barrow, Torquay United and Aldershot Town.
But despite Guiseley’s recent improvement in form in the past few weeks, and recent wins chalked up at Dagenham and Torquay, their overall results away from home throughout this season have been disappointing.
Guiseley hold a below-par record of 3-4-12 15/32 overall, and this also includes a poor record away at top half opposition which reads a sorry looking 2-0-8 8/20. Therefore, their revival may have to wait for another match…
