Gateshead to add to Halifax woes

National League Tips

GATESHEAD v HALIFAX TOWN

Saturday 21st November 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Football – England – National League Betting Tips

Gateshead crashed to a heavy 4-0 defeat way at Wrexham last weekend so no doubt this afternoon’s hosts will be keen to register a much-needed three points here today to keep up their bid for claiming a play-off place in the National League.

Gateshead currently sit in 11th place in the non-league top flight but have been largely inconsistent so far this season which reflects their current mid-table occupancy. Defeats to Macclesfield and Wrexham have been off-set by a win over Boreham Wood along with draws against Cheltenham Town and Altrincham.

The Heed’s overall home record stands at an indifferent  3-3-3  14/15 and is the epitome of inconsistency, but I do feel they have the edge over today’s opponents Halifax with forwards Bowman and Johnson expected to feature.

Onto Halifax Town then, and they are nowhere near to being the same side as previous seasons in the National League where they were challenging for at least a play-off berth. This time around though, The Shaman find themselves rock-bottom of the division, some four points adrift of struggling Kidderminster.

Halifax have lost seven of their last eight matches overall which includes some heavy defeats at the hands of Cheltenham Town 7-1, Woking 3-0, Grimsby Town 7-0 and last weekend’s 6-3 defeat to Braintree Town.

A defence that can concede 7 goals twice so far this season is ringing alarm bells I’m sure around The Shay, and a trip to Gateshead this Saturday may end in further trouble for the West Yorkshire outfit.

So, despite Gateshead’s inconsistent nature, I’ll back the hosts for a win here today.
