Heed to keep Imps quiet

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Tuesday 11th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Gateshead eased their way into the second round of the FA Cup at the weekend when they registered a comfortable 4-0 win away at Norton United which gave The Heed their third win on the trot in recent weeks.

Earlier wins over Gainsborough in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup along with an away win at Aldershot Town set Gateshead up nicely for tonight’s clash with Lincoln City at the Gateshead International Stadium and the hosts could jump into second place if they take all three points here.

Gateshead have lost just once in their last eleven Conference Premier matches which was a 0-2 reverse at home to league leaders Barnet who have a commanding nine point lead at the top over Grimsby Town and Gateshead.

Gateshead’s overall home record stands at  6-1-2  17/13 and they’ll be looking to return to winning ways following the loss to Barnet last time out on home soil.

Lincoln City were bundled out of the FA Cup away at Eastleigh when they lost 1-2 due to a dramatic winner for The Spitfires in the dying minutes of the game and they now face a tough trip up to Gateshead on Tuesday night as they look to improve upon their current mid-table position.

Lincoln’s last Conference Premier match ended in a 1-2 home defeat to Altrincham which ended a run of four matches without defeat for The Imps as they registered a home win over AFC Telford along with draws against Southport, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers.

However, Lincoln’s away record reads a disappointing  2-2-5  14/19 as The Imps have now gone seven away matches without a win, picking up just two points from the last possible 21 on offer. Recent defeats at Welling United, Aldershot Town and Nuneaton Town (all of whom are currently in the bottom half of the division), suggests that Lincoln may well struggle at Gateshead tonight.

Gateshead have been pretty solid on home turf this season and the incentive is certainly with the hosts tonight as they look to reduce the points deficit from league leaders Barnet – could be a 2-1 win for Gateshead.

Pick: Gateshead straight win @ 1.73 Coral
