Germany survived a few scares against Ukraine in their opening match in Group C as they had their goalkeeper Neuer to thank for keeping a clean sheet in their 2-0 win.

Once Germany went ahead though, they started to take control of the game as you’d expect and their ability keep the ball for long periods of the match was the hallmark to their first win in the Euro 2016 finals.

Players like Khedira and Ozil were the driving force and the engine room in the midfield for the Germans, and with the attacking personnel of Muller, Kroos and Gotze hungry to open their own personal goalscoring accounts, there could be trouble ahead for Poland this evening.

Poland did what was expected of them in their opening Group C match as they saw off Northern Ireland 1-0 but I daresay they would have liked to have scored more goals against an Irish outfit who seemed to be looking for damage control rather than trying to win.

Attacking midfielder Milik linked up well with striker Lewandowski but he was guilty of spurning quite a few clear-cut chances in front of goal before eventually finding the winner in the start of the second half.

Against a disciplined and well-organised German defence, Lewandowski and Milik’s chances may well be limited so they’ll need to take what chances come thir way if they’re to get anything out of this encounter. Poland actually beat Germany 2-0 at home during qualification, but that was on home turf and they’re expected to be up against it on Thursday night.
