With just four games remaining of the Spanish Segunda Division, eighth placed Girona will be looking to come home with a wet sail as they are just two points adrift of sixth placed Osasuna, and more importantly, a promotion play-off spot.
Girona have suffered just one defeat from their last nine matches overall and with a solid home record of 7-8-4 23/14 under their belts so far this season, Girona will fancy their chances of capturing all three very important points in their quest for a play-off place.
Girona are also unbeaten in their last ten matches at their Estadi Municipal de Montilivi which includes racking up six wins with victories over Real Vallodolid, Ponferradina, Athletic Bilbao II, Mirandes, Deportivo Alaves and Tenerife. In addition, they’ve kept nine clean sheets on home turf so far this term.
Visitors Mallorca ended a run of five Segunda Division games on the trot without a win last weekend when they registered a vital 1-0 win at home against Tenerife which lifted them away from the bottom four.
They now have a crucial three point cushion ahead of fourth from bottom club Almeria, but they’re not out of the woods yet as they face a tough trip away to Girona on Saturday evening, especially when you consider their away record to date of 2-5-12 15/30 on their travels so far.
In addition, Mallorca have lost five of their last seven away matches, so recent form is not on their side having lost at Numancia, Llagostera, Real Zaragoza, Lugo and Albacete.
