Football – Spain – La Liga

Saturday 7th March 2015 – Kickoff: 2100hrs

Second from bottom club in the Primera Division, Granada, are without a league win from their last four after suffering defeats to Villareal, Levante and Barcelona along with a draw against Athletic Bilbao.

And with just one win from their last 21 matches overall in the Spanish top flight, this awful run of form has then firmly ensconced in the bottom three of La Liga and five points adrift of Elche and safety. Ironically, their sole win during this dreadful sequence was a 1-0 home win over the aforementioned Elche, but their overall home record stands at a disappointing  2-6-4  7/13.

A lack of goals on home soil has been one of the main factors in their poor season as they’ve failed to score on six occasions to date. However, they’ve lost just once in their last seven at home (but this includes no fewer than five draws).

Visitors Malaga have enjoyed a much more stable campaign this season as they currently sit in a creditable seventh spot and are just four points behind sixth placed Villarreal and a possible Europa League spot.

But with just three league wins from their last nine, Malaga will be keen to continue their recent winning run when they travel to Granada this evening on the back of wins over Barcelona (away) and last weekend’s home win over Getafe.

Malaga’s away record of  5-2-5  12/18 gives them a chance of getting something here tonight, and only Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid have registered more away wins than them so far this term.

Their recent win away at Barcelona will have given Malaga real belief that they can now go anywhere and get something from the 90 minutes, so I’ll back them with the round ball to at least avoid defeat at Granada tonight. This could be a 1-0 win for Malaga.
