HALIFAX v EASTLEIGH – Pick: Both teams to score – 17 January 2015

Shaymen and Spitfires to hit full throttle

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 17th January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Having secured a vital three points away at lowly Dartford in a 2-1 win, Halifax now return to The Shay where they’ll be looking for another win over play-off candidates Eastleigh which in turn could see them leapfrog today’s visitors.

Halifax have dropped out of the play-off positions following some mixed results recently, but they still remain just two points adrift of Eastleigh and a couple of wins on the trot would see them firmly back in the running for a top five place.

The Shaymen have as usual reserved their best for their own fans as they currently possess a very good home record of  9-2-3  27/14 although they got a reality check last time out when they lost 2-0 to bottom half club Chester. Their most likely goalscorers are forward Boden and midfielder Peniket.

After a temporary lull in proceedings, Eastleigh have kick-started their play-off ambitions in positive fashion with a 4-0 home win over Lincoln City last weekend which lifted them up into fifth place in the Conference.

With just one defeat from their last six league matches, The Spitfires have signalled their intentions with recent wins over AFC Telford, Braintree Town and Lincoln City along with taking points off Woking in home and away draws.

Eastleigh have scored 16 goals in their last six matches, and with a forward line comprising the likes of Constable, McAllister, Midson and Strevens, they’ll always pose plenty of goal threats in the final third of the pitch.

With both sides keen to secure their position in the play-off pack this should be a cracker, and I’ll back both teams to find the back of the net in what could be a 2-2 goal bonanza!
