Fourth from bottom club Hannover have avoided dropping into the bottom three of the German Bundesliga thus far but with just one league place and a single point between them, they will be looking to pull away from third from bottom outfit Stuttgart this afternoon.
But this may well be easier said than done as Hannover have registered just one home win all season to date (and lost the other five by the way), and today’s encounter with Ingolstadt won’t be an easy assignment either.
Hannover have lost three of their last four matches overall with defeats to Eintracht Frankfurt, Hertha Berlin and Borussia Moenchengladbach, while their overall home record reads a very sorry-looking 1-0-5 6/13, and they’ve kept just one clean sheet from their last 15 home matches in the German top flight.
Visitors Ingolstadt have proved to be a hard nut to crack so far this season as they sit in an impressive eighth place which is incidentally thanks to a solid away record where they’ve suffered just one defeat all season.
In recent weeks, Ingolstadt have earned points against Schalke and Borussia Moenchengladbach (both away from home) along with a 3-1 home win over Darmstadt last weekend, and they’ll be confident of getting something at Hannover this afternoon I’m sure.
Ingolstadt’s away record stands at 3-3-1 5/3 with the one defeat coming at Stuttgart, and with impending trips to Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg looming, they’ll be keen to get something here today.
I will therefore back Ingolstadt with the handicap here which can be taken at good odds considering their overall form this season to date.
