Following their recent 2-0 defeat away at Partick Thistle, tonight’s hosts Hearts will be glad to return to their more familiar surroundings of Tynecastle when they prepare for the visit of third from bottom club Ross County.
Hearts had previously put together a promising three-match unbeaten sequence which included wins over Rangers 4-1 at home and a 3-0 win away at Motherwell together with a point against Inverness in a 1-1 draw, and with a fairly solid home record of 7-4-2 28/10 behind them, the home side look well placed for further success this evening.
Indeed, Hearts have lost just once in their last 12 on home turf, and with the likes of goalscoring midfielder Walker (11 goals) and striker Johnsen (5 goals) in their ranks, they stand a good chance of collecting all three points here.
Visitors Ross County sit third from bottom in the Scottish top flight and it’s easy to see why as they’ve lost four of their last five league matches overall having suffered defeats to Kilmarnock, Motherwell, St Johnstone and Aberdeen.
This is not great preparation for a trip to Hearts, particularly when you look at Ross County’s away record which stands at 2-5-6 12/21 and are without a win on the road from their last five outings on their travels.
In addition, Ross County have failed to score in 7 of their 13 away matches to date, and they could be severely tested again this evening against a Hearts side who will be keen to bounce back with a win tonight.
