Hosts Helsingborg will be looking for a reaction following their defeat away at Falkenberg last Monday when they entertain third placed IFK Gothenburg at their Olympia ground tonight.
Helsingborg lost 0-2 last time out at Falkenberg but prior to that away loss, they’d strung together a run of five matches without defeat, a run which included four wins over the likes of AIK Stockholm 3-1, bottom club Brommapojkarna 3-1, Atvidaberg 2-1 away and a crushing 4-1 home win over Kalmar.
Helsingborg’s home record has been pretty steady this season and it currently stands at 7-5-2 26/15 despite their mid-table position, and they’ve won their last three matches on home soil on the trot. Incidentally, the hosts have lost just once in their last ten matches at Olympia.
Visitors IFK Gothenburg have also been on a good run of form overall having lost just once in their last eleven Allsvenskan matches, which was a 0-3 away defeat at Norrkoping in their last away match.
Six wins from their last eight though have propelled Gothenburg into third place and had it not been for so many stalemates on the road, Gothenburg would probably be serious title contenders and giving current league leaders Malmo a run for their money.
As it is, they’re currently nine points adrift of Malmo, and they need to start converting their draws on their travels to straight wins. Gothenburg’s overall away record stands at 3-9-2 17/19 and they’ve won just once away at bottom half opposition so far from seven matches.
I’ll be looking to Helsingborg’s forwards Accam (17 goals) and Dahlberg (7 goals) to keep the hosts in this match and with good odds available for them to not lose, I’ll back Helsingborg with the handicap here.
