Helsingborg will go in search of a third consecutive win in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Friday night when they entertain Kalmar at their Olympia ground following recent wins over AIK Stockholm and Atvidaberg.
Helsingborg have recorded back-to-back wins going into tonight’s encounter with 3-1 and 2-1 wins respectively which has lifted them up into seventh place but there is still plenty of work to do if they’re to close in on a european qualification spot.
Helsingborg’s overall home record stands at a much-improved 5-1-2 13/5 as they’ve won three of their last four encounters on home turf with wins over the likes of Hammarby 1-0, Atvidaberg 3-0 and AIK Stockholm 3-1. Striker Simovic (9 goals) looks the likeliest anytime goalscorer for the hosts.
Visitors Kalmar fell to a 3-0 loss away at Hacken last weekend which has left the visitors in 10th spot some five points adrift of tonight’s opponents Helsingborg ahead of tonight’s clash. The visitors are currently going through a bit of a lean spell right now as they’ve registered just one win in the Swedish Allsvenskan from their last seven matches overall.
That rare win was a recent 4-0 thrashing of struggling Falkenberg who have won just once all season on the road to date, but Kalmar have also experienced similar difficulties on their travels this term as they too have secured just one victory away from home.
Kalmar’s overall away record stands at a poor 1-1-6 6/13 and they’ve lost three of their last four away matches with defeats at Norrkoping, Halmstad and Hacken while scoring goals has been a problem; they’ve failed to hit the back of the net on four occasions already and are yet to keep a clean sheet so far.
This all points to a home win here tonight so I’ll back the hosts to register all three points in what could perhaps be a 2-1 win for Helsingborg.
