Hertha Berlin head into this final round of qualifiers in the Europa League having played just a few friendlies prior to this first leg clash against Brondby.
The German outfit have previously trashed Schwedt 1-0 away from home, but this was followed by two warm-up defeats away at Nantes and AZ Alkmaar, so they’ll no doubt be keen to return to winning ways this evening when their new season kicks off in earnest.
Although Hertha Berlin have mixed form at their Olympiastadion Berlin in the Europa League, they’ve actually lost just twice in their last 12 matches on home turf, while their last win was a 1-0 victory over Sporting CP. Incidentally, the last time they played Brondby in this competition was back in 2009 with Hertha beating them 3-1.
Brondby just about scraped through their previous Europa League qualifying tie against Scottish outfit Hibernian as they squeezed through on penalties following a 1-1 score on aggregate after normal time.
Brondby have now put together a five-match winning streak ahead of this first leg in Berlin having also registered wins over Valur (Europa League) 6-0, Hibernian twice, Esbjerg and Silkeborg – the latter two results coming in the Danish Superliga.
However, Brondby’s form in this competition seems to be pretty reliable against the ‘minnows’ of european football, but they could once again fall at the final hurdle over these next two legs.
