HULL v MANCHESTER UNITED – Pick: 2 – 24 May 2015

Red Devils to end season on high note

Premier League Tips

Football – England – Premier League

Saturday 24th May 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Despite holding home advantage at their KC Stadium, Hull City go into their final match of the season with Manchester United facing a tough task of getting something from this crucial encounter.

Steve Bruce’s men have lost their last three matches on the trot with defeats to Arsenal, Burnley and Tottenham with two of these recent losses coming on home turf where they’ve managed just five wins all season. The Tigers enjoyed a brief respite recently where they posted back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace and Liverpool, but they’ve recorded just these two wins from their last eleven overall.

On home turf, Hull City hold an okay record of  5-4-9  19/24 but they’ve lost six of their nine encounters at home against top half opposition, and a visit from Manchester United could extend this poor record for the hosts.

Visitors Manchester United missed their opportunity to overhaul Champions League rivals Arsenal on Sunday when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford despite holding a 1-0 lead. They conceded the equaliser in slightly fortunate (or unfortunate if you’re a Red Devils fan) circumstances thanks to a deflection, but they will be holding their breath for Arsenal’s midweek clash with Sunderland.

With a game in hand, Arsenal look likely to claim the final automatic place for the Champions League, but as we saw with West Brom last night, anything is possible in the EPL! United have been a bit up and down on the road in recent weeks as they’ve registered wins at Newcastle United, Liverpool and Crystal Palace but have also suffered defeats at Swansea City, Chelsea and Everton.

Although Hull City will be going all-out for the three points to ensure Premier league safety, United undoubtedly have the edge in terms of quality and depth, regardless of the situation that this match finds itself. I’ll back the visitors for perhaps a 2-1 win here.
