Inter Milan will be wanting to break out of their current dismal run of form in the Italian top flight tonight when they take on bottom half outfit Chievo at their Stadio Giuseppe Meazza ground with the hosts on a four game stretch without a win.
Defeats to Sassuolo and the recent derby loss to AC Milan on Sunday along with draws against Atalanta and Carpi (which were also disappointing results), have cost Inter Milan ground on the top teams in Serie A as they’ve now slipped down to fourth spot.
A must-win match tonight would see them leapfrog Fiorentina depending on results, while their overall home record stands at 6-2-3 12/8 but they’re without a win from their last three on home turf so they’ll be desperate to set the record straight this evening.
Visitors Chievo have recently suffered back-to-back defeats in Serie A having conceded 4 goals in quick succession with defeats to Lazio 4-1 away and a 4-0 loss at home to Juventus. Overall, performances have been inconsistent for tonight’s visitors and they duly sit in the bottom half of the division as a result.
Chievo’s away record stands at 4-2-5 13/15 which is actually not a bad record considering their league position as they’ve recently achieved wins at Carpi, Frosinone and Bologna, but a trip to Milan tonight will surely test them to the limit.
Chievo have kept just two clean sheets on their travels but despite this, I reckon we’re in for a low-scoring grind tonight with Inter possibly nicking this 1-0.
