Inter Milan will be wanting to keep the pressure up on the top five clubs in the Italian Serie A this weekend when they play host to Chievo at their Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday evening as the hosts chase a fifth consecutive win in the Italian top flight.
Recent wins against Genoa, Sassuolo, Lazio and Udinese have lifted Inter within just three points of their rivals AC Milan who currently occupy the last remaining european qualification spot, but with an impressive run of form on home turf of late, Inter will be looking to change that today.
An overall home record of 6-2-1 19/8 includes five straight wins in front of their own fans, and they’ll certainly be keen to register a sixth win on the trot here, particularly with the likes of leading goalscorer Icardi (14 goals) and Perisic (6 goals) in their attacking ranks.
Visitors Chievo currently sit in a comfortable mid-table position which will suit them just fine as we’ve reached the halfway stage of the domestic season as they’ve held their own in the Italian top flight with recent wins over Palermo and Sampdoria.
However, both of these recent wins were against bottom half opposition and they head into Saturday evening’s encounter at Inter Milan having suffered back-to-back defeats to Roma and Atalanta, and they could struggle again this evening against their more illustrious opponents.
Chievo have lost three of their last four on their travels with defeats at Crotone, Torino and Roma while their record away at top half opposition reads a poor 1-0-3 3/7.
