IPSWICH v ROTHERHAM – Pick: 1 – 27 September 2014

Tractor Boys to gear up for fourth straight win

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 27th September 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Ipswich Town secured their third Championship win on the trot away at Wigan Athletic on Monday night to scupper my Wigan pick, but I now turn to the Tractor Boys to do me a favour this afternoon as they seek a fourth consecutive league win.

Goals from Hyam and Sammon – the latter scoring against his former club, were enough to seal the points for Ipswich who showed plenty more attacking intent than their hosts, and it was only after grabbing a late goal before Wigan showed any desire to at least draw level. Ipswich looked up for it, and in particular, wing-back Mings made important in-roads down the left and generally made himself a nuisance in the final third.

Ipswich now return to home turf for this afternoon’s clash against Rotherham United who have struggled for consistency since being promoted, and with the Tractor Boys beating the likes of Millwall, Brighton and Wigan, they’ll fancy their chances of adding to their win tally here.

Strikers McGoldrick and Murphy are the most likely anytime goalscorers for the hosts who hold an overall home record of  3-0-1  6/2 going into today’s match.

Visitors Rotherham United find themselves in the lower reaches of the Championship with just two wins so far from their first eight matches; a home win over Wolves was followed shortly after with a 1-0 win away at Millwall, but since that success, The Millermen have gone four matches without a win which includes defeats to Brentford at home and away at Bolton Wanderers with draws against Bournemouth and Charlton Athletic.

On the road, Rotherham hold an away record of  1-1-2  4/5 but at this level, they’ve won just twice in their last thirteen matches, but they did drop out of the Championship for about 9 years prior to this term.

With the away win at Wigan, Ipswich will be bubbling with confidence and I’ll back them to take all three points here today in perhaps a 2-1 win for the hosts.
