The Harjun Stadion is the venue of my next pick with hosts Jyvaskyla (JJK) taking on rock-bottom club FC Viikingit on Monday evening.
JJK are unbeaten in their last seven matches with recent wins over tonight’s visitors Viikingit 3-2 away back in June, 2-1 at HIFK, a 2-1 home win over runaway league leaders KooTeePee and a 3-2 win at JIPPO.
They’ve also grabbed points against FC Jazz 1-1 away and shared a 2-2 draw at Haka, but they now return to familiar surroundings where they are expected to win with relative ease. JJK’s overall home record stands at 4-2-3 11/12 but perhaps more importantly, their home record over bottom half teams stands at a solid 3-1-0 7/0.
Visitors FC Viikingit are currently bottom of the Ykkonen by some margin – seven points in fact behind nearest rivals FC Jazz who are on 13 points. Viikingit’s cause has not been helped by a run of four straight defeats with losses to Oulu 0-2 at home, a 1-3 loss at HIFK, 1-2 home defeat to Ilves and a 0-1 loss again at home to JIPPO.
Viikingit’s away form has been poor having registered just two points from a possible 27 on offer with an away record of 0-2-7 8/24 and they’ve lost by a 2+ goal margin on four occasions already. They’ve kept just one clean sheet on their travels and have conceded 2 goals or more on now fewer than seven occasions.
In a nutshell, JJK should win this one relatively easily and I’ll also back them to cover the -1.25 asian line too as well. This looks like a 2-0 or 3-1 win for the hosts tonight.
