Sporting Kansas’ impressive three-match winning streak came to an abrupt end last weekend when they crashed to a 2-1 defeat away at Real Salt Lake which continued their disappointing form on their travels.
However, Sporting Kansas now return to their Sporting Park fortress to entertain tonight’s visitors Houston Dynamo with the hosts looking to further extend their solid ten-match unbeaten run on home turf, following six wins on the trot.
Sporting Kansas’ overall home record reads a very satisfying 7-3-0 18/6 and had it not been for a disappointing away record, Kansas could well be challenging for a top two berth in the Western Conference. As it is, they still hold a very impressive home record which they’ll be keen to add to tonight with six clean sheets under their belts.
Visitors Houston Dynamo have recorded mixed results in recent weeks having beaten San Jose Earthquakes and LA Galaxy in recent times but they’ve also suffered defeats to FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake in addition to a draw with bottom club Chicago Fire at home.
Recent results away from home suggests a weakness for Houston as they’ve lost three of their last four on their travels with losses at Portland Timbers, FC Dallas and the aforementioned Real Salt Lake. Indeed, their only win in their last six away matches was at second from bottom outfit San Jose Earthquakes.
Houston’s overall away record stands at 2-3-5 7/12 and they could well struggle again in tonight’s match-up with Sporting Kansas.
In short, Kansas have been impressive at home to date and I’ll back them to take all three points here in what could perhaps be a 2-1 home win.
