Kidderminster bounced back from two defeats on the trot when they ran out 4-0 winners against Altrincham at home on Tuesday night and they’ll be confident of getting something out of Grimsby Town when the two teams meet at the Aggborough Stadium this afternoon.
Following defeats away at Southport and Braintree Town 0-1 and 0-2 respectively, Kidderminster returned to home turf and turned up the heat on lowly Altrincham with Gash, Reid, Johnson and Styche all notching for the hosts.
There’s no doubt that Kiddy prefer their home comforts where they’ve put together a home record of 4-1-0 12/3 with wins over Alfreton Town, Dartford, Gateshead and Altrincham along with a point against Chester, and they’ve now gone eight matches unbeaten on home turf.
Visitors Grimsby Town edged a 1-0 win at the Aggborough Stadium towards the end of last season and whilst The Mariners are expected to be among the play-off candidates again for this term, they’ve started in less convincing fashion so far.
Since their 7-0 blitz over Alfreton Town, Grimsby have won just once from their following five matches and that was a 2-0 home win over lowly Welling United at Blundell Park where they’ve lost just once so far this season. however, on the road Grimsby have struggled despite their 6-1 win at Gateshead (which has been their only real success) with draws at Bristol Rovers and Halifax, but have suffered defeats at Aldershot Town and Lincoln City.
Grimsby’s overall away record then stands at 1-2-2 10/7 and their goal threats are likely to come from midfielder Neilson (5 goals) along with forwards John-Lewis and Pittman.
Kidderminster’s form at the Aggborough has been pretty steady though and I’ll take advantage of the bookies favouring Grimsby at the moment by backing the hosts with the well-priced round ball here, as kidderminster might nick this one perhaps 2-1.
